Private transfer or shared transfer to Courchevel?

When deciding on which airport transfer to book, one of the key questions is often ‘Do I book a private or a shared transfer’

So you’ve booked your flight for your next winter holiday and your accommodation is waiting for you – but how do you get from one to the other? The answer of course is with an airport transfer. But should you book shared or private?

Well let’s have a look at the pros and cons of both.

PRICE The shared transfer can often seem like the cheaper option, but that’s only really the case if there are 4 or fewer travellers. For example a shared airport transfer from Geneva to Courchevel will be around 65 euros per person whereas a private transfer would be around 320 euros. So for 5 people, the shared option actually becomes more expensive at 325 euros.

CONVENIENCE Here, the private transfer wins hands down. Whether you are travelling from Grenoble, Lyon, Chambery or Geneva airport, a private transfer, to Meribel, Courchevel or Val Thorens, will be waiting for you when you arrive and will depart immediately when you are ready. You will then be taken directly to your resort. On a shared transfer, once you have arrived you may well have to wait up to 2 hours for other flights to arrive. On arrival, passengers are dropped off either at a central location and left to find their own way to their accommodation, or there are multiple drop off points meaning the last to be dropped off may get to their hotel an hour after arrival in resort.

So if you are a budget conscious traveller, and there are only a few of you travelling have a serious look at the shared option if hanging around at the airport isn’t a problem.

If however you are travelling in a party, you may well be surprised at how much cheaper and more convenient a private transfer will be.
